Objectives : The purpose of this research was to review the effectiveness of Chuna manual therapy for peripheral facial palsy. Methods : A literature search was conducted using eight electronic databases(Pubmed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, NDSL, RISS, OASIS, KISS, CNKI) conducted until September 1, 2019. This research included only randomized controlled trial(RCT). Searched reports was excluded by title, abstract and main text. The Cochrane risk of bias tool was used to assess the methodological quality of each RCT. Results : Finally 30 RCTs were selected. In the selected RCTs, patients with peripheral facial palsy were randomized into groups for treatment and control. The treatment group received tuina therapy, while the control group was concurrently given other treatment. The treatment of the completed studies have shown that treatment group receiving tuina therapy demonstrated significant improvement compared to the control group. Conclusions : Tuina therapy was shown to be effective in treating peripheral facial palsy. However better designed trials with high quality is required.
