Subject :
Totally 20 female dementia patients. Randomly divided into 2 groups 10 for treatment, the other 10 for non-treatment. The treatment group's average age is 80.3 yrs, averge K-MMSE score is 14.7 and average education period is 3.8 yrs. In the other hand, the non-treatment group's average age is 77.9 yrs, average K-MMSE 16.5 and educational period is 4.1 yrs.
Method :
Operated direct moxibustion on the top of the head(the name of the acupoint is 百會) 3 times/ day for 2 weeks. On the non-treatment group, the moxibustion therapy was operated with the treatment group once 1st so that we could evaluate the direct effect of moxibustion. The result was analyzed by repeated measure of general linear model.
Result :
No significant result was found in the number of correct answer and patterns of flaws. No significant change between 2 groups. But the direct efficacy was shown in the number of correct answer. Though it's not clear what the reason is.
Conclusion :
We need to study further. In this study, there are some limits in it.
